Growing A Bamboo Fence.

Today there are many options for fencing including wood, vinyl, iron, and aluminum.  However, if you want to save money and help save the environment while installing your new fence, you should look at planting your very own bamboo fence.  Controlling how tall your bamboo fence will be is dependant on pruning techniques.  After planting bamboo, it should be watered once a day for a few minutes or twice a day depending on how hot it is where you live.

Also available is pre-assembled bamboo fencing made out of bamboo poles.  Using this type of fencing is still helping the planet and our environment.  Because of the growth rate of this plant, it is seen as a sustainable and renewable material.  A typical bamboo shoot can grow one foot a day.  The plant as a whole growing to its full mass in 6 months.  To re-grow the trees it took to build your fence with wood, would take anywhere from 10 to 20 years.  Bamboo can also be harvested without damaging the plant.  Harvesting every 3 years can actually help the plant to grow stronger.  Some believe that if bamboo was planted in mass globally, it would reduce global warming substantially within 6 years.

  1. An even better option would be to plant bamboo as a natural, living fence. This way one would be helping the environment by planting the planet’s best and largest CO2 sequestering machine.
